Yamla Pagla Deewana Phir Se-Movie review
Film- Yamla Pagla Deewana Phir Se
Cast: Dharmendra, Sunny Deol, Bobby Deol, Kriti Kharbanda
Director: Navaniat Singh
Rating- 1.5/5
In starting half of the film the film builds some momentum like talking of Dharmendra to invisible women, sunny punch the pillar and Bobby sing some sweet melodic tunes of Nazarbattu (sung by Sachet Tandon. But later on, the film becomes boring as we try to find what the new element in the film but there is only disappointment. The film is like a party joke that you think the audience will enjoy, but you crack you did not get that support and it makes your situation quite awkward. The family tries to make their comeback with one more comedy movies mainly based on ‘daaru’, ‘Punjabi’ and ‘dhai kilo ka haath’ jokes.
The film, which comes in 2011, which is first in the series worked well as it contains village rustic charm. The main audience for that film was a Canada-Punjab based public, which enjoys that film, which can relate to film fully. The storyline of the film is predictable in nature, The stars are trapped in their image and cannot do much, but the public was faded up to see the same performance from them again and again. The jokes cannot raise the tempo of the film and they fall flat on the screen. The supporting role also does not add any freshness to the film. The absurd central theme of an omnipresent monkey also does not add any charm. You wouldn’t believe how out of place it was till you watch the second film of the franchise. Yamla Pagla Deewana Phir Se isn’t as stupid as Yamla Pagla Deewana 2, but it’s nowhere close to the fun quotient of Yamla Pagla Deewana either.
In the seven-year situation changes a lot and Deol’s had done a lot of other films so the temptation of watching them together in the audience is at the lowest level. In poster boy’s in 2017 they give some value to entertainment, but in this film, they seem to under burden to make it funny as possible. The end result does not work well at least for the audience. Background of the film in Punjab, Amritsar where Puran Singh (Sunny Deol) is a local favorite, having the best knowledge of Ayurveda. His brother Kaala (Bobby Deol) is maligning the family’s reputation. The whole sequence is tried to portray in a humorous way, at least director tried to show that in that way. The story develops and there is the entry of big pharmaceutical giant Marfatia (Mohan Kapoor) who wants to buy a secret medicinal formula from Puran. After much drama and the event case reached in the court where advocate Parmar (Dharmendra) fights the case of the behalf of Sunny and Bobby Deol.
The Film is not able to bind the audience and provide any value to the character, instead, the audience gets bored during the unrelated treatment of the subject. The story is not able to raise any expectation and fall flat on the face of the customer. If we do not discuss the songs it will be better. The plot development was worst, although the storyline had the scope to enhance the humor, it was not utilized properly.
